Right next to Limfjorden
The building is situated on a relatively flat site right next to Limfjorden. The tall warm grasses set the tone and atmosphere of the surroundings. The obvious wishes for views towards the sea, and the demand for intimate outdoor spaces - sheltered from the views of the neighbours - were crucial parameters in our design.
Traditional rural typologies such as barn houses, boathouses, and fishing huts were an inspiration for this modern interpretation of a classical barn house overlooking the fjords.
A modern barnhouse
Our clients wanted a house that could accommodate their hobbies around hunting, fishing, and sailing. We proposed a design that draws on motifs from traditional rural typologies such as barn houses, boathouses, and fishing huts, turning it into a natural habitat where indoor and outdoor life overlap. In this house outdoor activities are an integrated part of the design. You stove your kayak or fishing gear below the large extended roof or bring home your prey from hunting. Indoor and outdoor spaces flow together, creating a lively house, where indoor and outdoor activities live together.
A room with a view
With its unique location next to Limfjorden it was obvious that we had to design a house that would offer spectacular views over the fjord. At the same time the client wished for intimacy, which led to the introducing of slats that serves as a tool for sun shading element while creating privacy and blocking the views from the near by houses.
